Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurates 13 new districts

• The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated 13 new districts in the state on April 04, 2022.
• The new districts have been carved out from the existing 13 districts.
• With this, the total number of districts in the state have increased to 26 district.

Bengaluru-based Spacetech startup Pixxel launches ‘Shakuntala’ satellite with SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket

• The Indian Spacetech startup Pixxel [Headquarter- Bengaluru] launched its first commercial satellite called `Shakuntala’ in April 2022.
• The full-fledged commercial satellite was launched onboard Falcon-9 rocket of Elon Musk-run SpaceX from Cape Canaveral in the US.
• The launch took place under SpaceX`s Transporter-4 mission.
• The ‘Shakuntala’ satellite is a low-orbit imaging satellite, installed with one of the highest-resolution hyperspectral commercial cameras ever flown to space.
• This will help to track the invisible changes of Earth like deforestation, natural gas leakages, pollution, declining crop health, melting ice caps, and other data critical for climate change assessments.

Tata Group to launch its super app Tata Neu on April 07, 2022

• The salt-to-software conglomerate, Tata Group has announced to launch its one-stop mobile app called Tata Neu, on April 07, 2022.
• Tata Neu is being launched as a supper app where users can find everything, from groceries to gadgets, and getaways.
• App will enable users to access all digital services and apps offered by Tata Group such as booking AirAsia flights, booking hotels at Taj Group, ordering groceries from Bigbasket and many other services.
• Payments can be made instantly for any online and in-store purchases, utility bills & more, using Tata Pay, a United Payments Interface (UPI)-based digital payments service.
• The Tata Neu App will give a stiff competition to likes of Amazon, Flipkart and Jio Platforms in the consumer digital economy space.

Flipkart Foundation launched for growth of rural area and women

• Homegrown e-commerce giant, The Flipkart Group has constituted and launched the Flipkart Foundation, a new platform with focus on development in rural areas and providing equitable access to growth opportunities for women and other disadvantaged communities.
• The Flipkart Foundation aims to positively influence 20 million lives directly and indirectly in the coming decade across a wide array of areas by utilising Flipkart’s learnings over the years
• The operations of Flipkart Foundation will be grant-based. The contributions will come from the Flipkart Group and through the ‘Charity Checkout’ feature available on Flipkart platforms.
• The Flipkart Foundation will engage with diverse stakeholders to enable transformational development work for society and the economy, by offering support to underprivileged sections of society and make them a part of the country’s growth story.

64th Grammy Awards 2022

• The 2022 GRAMMYs, was the 64th edition of the annual GRAMMY Awards, which is the premiere awards for music. The award ceremony took place on April 03, 2022 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
• The 64th GRAMMY Awards recognizes recordings (including musical artistes, compositions and albums) released between September 01, 2020 to September 30, 2021.
• Jon Batiste received the most nominations with eleven and Batiste also received the most awards with five.
• Major category winners include:
  1. Record of the Year : Leave The Door Open (Silk Sonic)
  2. Album of the Year : We Are (Jon Batiste)
  3. Song of the Year : Leave The Door Open (Brandon Anderson, Christopher Brody Brown, Dernst Emile II & Bruno Mars, songwriters (Silk Sonic))
  4. Best  New Artist : Olivia Rodrigo
• It must be noted that Indian music composer, Ricky Kej also won the Grammy Award for his album Divine Tides, for the Best New Age Album. He won the award jointly with rock legend Stewart Copeland.
• This is the second Grammy Award win for Kej.

UNHRC appoints Tuvalu negotiator Dr Ian Fry as first climate change expert

• The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has appointed Dr Ian Fry as the world’s first independent expert for human rights and climate change.
• Dr Fry has been appointed for a period of three years. He holds dual citizenship of Tuvalu and Australia.
• The position of Special Rapporteur for human rights and climate change was created by UNHRC in October 2021.
• The new independent expert will have the mandate to “study and identify how the adverse effects of climate change, including sudden and slow onset disasters, affect the full and effective enjoyment of human rights and make recommendations on how to address and prevent these adverse effects”

Viktor Orban wins Fourth Term as Prime Minister of Hungary

• Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban won a fourth successive term in office by a landslide victory in the country’s general elections for 2022.
• His right-wing Fidesz party secured 53.1% of the total 98% of the count complete.
• The 58-year-old is already the longest-serving head of government in the EU, since assuming the role of Prime Minister in May 2010.

• The new book gives a comprehensive analysis of how ‘new India’ under the prime ministership of Narendra Modi since 2014, helped to transform India’s national security policy.
