SBI CBO Eligibility Criteria 2025
To apply for the SBI Circle Based Officer post, candidates must meet four essential eligibility criteria: educational qualification, age limit, experience, and local language proficiency.
1. Educational Qualification
- Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
- Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) holders are eligible.
- Candidates with professional qualifications such as Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, and Cost Accountant are also eligible.
2. Age Limit (as on 30th April 2025)
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 30 years

3. Work Experience (as on 30th April 2025)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank listed in the Second Schedule of the RBI.
- Job profile must align substantially with that of a Scale-I Generalist Officer in SBI.
- Candidates must produce experience certificates and job profile documents certified by current/previous employers.
4. Local Language Proficiency
- Candidates must be proficient (reading, writing, and speaking) in any one of the specified local languages of the Circle they apply for.
- Candidates must pass a local language test unless they provide proof of having studied the language in 10th or 12th grade.
SBI Circle Based Officers (CBO) Selection Process 2025
The selection process for SBI CBO comprises four stages:
1. Online Written Test
- The exam is divided into Objective and Descriptive tests.

B. Descriptive Test (50 Marks – 30 Minutes)

No negative marking for incorrect answers.
2. Screening
- Applications and documents of candidates who qualify in the online exam will be reviewed.
- A Screening Committee will match job profiles with SBI’s Scale-I Generalist role.
- Candidates not meeting the experience criteria will be disqualified, regardless of their test scores.
3. Interview (50 Marks)
- Shortlisted candidates (about three times the number of vacancies) will be called for an interview.
- Minimum qualifying marks will be decided by SBI.
4. Local Language Test
- Only for provisionally selected candidates.
- Exemption is granted to those who studied the specified language in 10th or 12th grade.
Final Selection
- Candidates must qualify both the Online Test and Interview separately.
- Final merit list will be prepared by giving 75% weightage to the Online Test (converted from 170 marks to 75 marks) and 25% weightage to the Interview (out of 50 marks, converted to 25).
- Selection will be made Circle-wise and Category-wise from the top-ranked candidates.
