National News

PM Modi launches PM Matsya Sampada Yojana and e-Gopala App

  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has launched the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana and e-Gopala App through video conference. Apart from this he also launched various initiatives related to fisheries production, dairy, animal husbandry and agriculture in Bihar virtually.
  • Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana has been launched in 21 states with an outlay of Rs 20,050 crore for a period of 5 years (during 2020-21 to 2024-25). The scheme aims to bring about the Blue Revolution through the sustainable and responsible development of fisheries sector in India.
  • The government aims to double fish exports in the coming 3-4 years.
  • The e-Gopala app is a comprehensive breed improvement marketplace and information portal for the direct use of farmers. It will give all the information related to cattle care, from productivity to its health and diet. The app will help the farmers to choose better quality livestock without the help of middlemen, which will make it easier for cattle owners to buy and sell animals.

Atal Innovation Mission Launches Aatmanirbhar Bharat ARISE-ANIC Initiative

  • Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog has launched the Aatmanirbhar Bharat ARISE-Atal New India Challenges to foster innovation in Indian MSMEs and startups.
  • The programme will support research-based innovations by providing funding support to MSMEs and startups up to Rs 50 lakh. 
  • The programme will be driven by Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) along with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and four Government Ministries Ministry of Defence; Ministry of Food Processing Industries; Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Ministry of Shipping launches ‘SAROD-Ports’ for disputes of maritime sector

  • Ministry of Shipping has launched the SAROD-Ports’ (Society for Affordable Redressal of Disputes – Ports) which is a Dispute Redressal Mechanism for all kind of disputes of the maritime sector.
  • The launch was done virtually by Union Minister of State for Shipping (I/C) Shri Mansukh Mandaviya. It has two objectives:
    1. Affordable and timely resolution of disputes in a fair manner
    2. Enrichment of Dispute Resolution Mechanism with the panel of technical experts as arbitrators.
  • SAROD-Ports will save a huge amount of legal expenditure and time by resolving the maritime disputes in a fair and just manner.

India’s Second and South India’s First Kisan Rail flagged off from Andhra’s Anantapur to Delhi

  • The second ‘Kisan Rail’ in India and the first from the South India region was inaugurated on 9 September 2020 from Anantapuramu district of Andhra Pradesh to the national capital New Delhi.
  • The Kisan Rail was flagged off by the Union Minister for Agriculture Shri Narendra Singh Tomar and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy via a video link from New Delhi and Amaravati respectively.
  • The train containing 14 parcel vans carrying 322 tonnes of fresh fruits and vegetables will cover a distance of 2,150 km in 40 hours.
  • The first Kisan Rail carrying perishable goods was flagged off between Devlali in Maharashtra and Danapur in Bihar on 7 August 2020.

Karnataka launches India’s first integrated air ambulance service

  • Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa inaugurated India’s first state-of-the-art integrated air ambulance service, exclusively to transport critical Covid-19 patients, on 8 September 2020.
  • The Air ambulance firm International Critical Air Transfer Team (ICATT) will run the services in collaboration with aviation technology firm Kyathi from the HAL airport in Bengaluru.
  • This will also be the first air ambulance based in South India, to provide services for medical emergencies.
  • The ambulance is fitted with German Isolation Pod to fly the patient and includes a jet, a small plane and a helicopter in its fleet.

Defence

First batch of five Rafale aircraft formally inducted into Indian Air Force

  • The first batch of five Rafale fighter jets was formally inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) on 10 September 2020 at the Air Force Station in Ambala.
  • They have been inducted in the Indian Air Force’s 17 Squadron ‘Golden Arrows’ based in Ambala.
  • The first five Rafale aircraft had arrived from France on 27 July 2020.
  • The multi-role Rafale jets have been built by French aerospace major Dassault Aviation.
  • India had signed an inter-governmental agreement with France in 2016 to procure 36 of the aircraft at a cost of Rs 59,000 crore
  • The delivery of all 36 aircraft is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021.
  • Out of 36 Rafale jets, 30 will be fighter jets and six will be trainers.

Agreements

India and Japan inks agreement on Reciprocal Provision of Supplies and Services between Armed Forces

  • India and Japan have signed an Agreement regarding Reciprocal Provision of Supplies and Services between the Armed Forces of India and The Self-Defense Forces of Japan on 9 September 2020.
  • The agreement was signed by Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar and Ambassador of Japan Mr Suzuki Satoshi.
  • The agreement will enable closer cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two countries and further increase the bilateral defence engagements under the Special Strategic & Global Partnership.

India-France-Australia holds first-ever Trilateral Dialogue on Ind0-Pacific

  • India, Australia and France held their first-ever Trilateral Dialogue on 9 September 2020, with focus on enhancing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
  • The meeting was co-chaired virtually by Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Foreign Secretary of India, François Delattre, Secretary-General, French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and Frances Adamson, Secretary, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
  • Objective of this trilateral meeting was to strengthen the strong bilateral relations among the three countries and synergize their respective strengths to ensure a peaceful, secure, prosperous and rules-based Indo-Pacific Region.
  • The three sides agreed to hold the dialogue on an annual basis.

ICICI Bank launches iStartup 2.0, dedicated offering for start-ups

  • ICICI Bank has launched a new product named iStartup 2.0, to cater to the banking needs of startups and entrepreneurs.
  • iStartup 2.0 is a startup bank account (in form of current account) that can be opened within 10 years of date of incorporation of the business. There are three variants of this current account.
  • Eligibility: Partnership Firms and Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) OR Private and Public Limited Companies and One Person Companies (OPCs).
  • Apart from this, under the product, ICICI Bank will also provide services like- Company Registration, ROC Filing & Compliance, GST/ IT-Related Service, Property Registration, Stamp Paper & Franking and more such services.

Crisil projects India’s GDP for FY21 at -9%; For FY22 at 10%

  • CRISIL has projected India’s GDP rate for 2020-21 (FY21) at -9%
  • For FY22, Crisil has projected India’s GDP to grow at 10%.
  • For the next three years, between fiscals 2023 and 2025, CRISIL projects the Indian GDP to average a growth of 6.2% annually.
