India’s largest open air fernery inaugurated in Uttarakhand
- India’s largest open-air fernery has been inaugurated in Ranikhet of Uttarakhand on September 12, 2021.
- The new center will serve the dual objective of ‘conservation of fern species’ as well as ‘create awareness about their ecological role and promote further research’.
- The Ranikhet fernery has around 120 different types of fern, spreads over four acres of land at an altitude of 1,800 metres.
- The facility has been developed under Central Government’s CAMPA scheme, by the Research Wing of Uttarakhand Forest Department over a period of three years.
‘Medicine from the Sky’ initiative launched in Telangana for delivery of medicines, vaccine via drone
- Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiradtiya Scindia has launched an initiative named ‘Medicine from the Sky’ in Telangana under which drugs and vaccines will be delivered using drones.
- The initiative has been launched by Telangana Government in partnership with the World Economic Forum, NITI Aayog, and HealthNet Global (Apollo Hospitals).

India and Denmark jointly launch Centre of Excellence on Offshore Wind
- The Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, Shri R.K Singh and his Danish
- The Danish minister accompanied by a delegation of officials is on visit to India to hold meeting for cooperation in the field of Renewable Energy with focus on Offshore Wind Energy.
- During the meeting held on on September 09, 2021, both sides agreed to further cooperation in renewable energy, especially offshore wind and green hydrogen.

India’s first long-range nuclear missile tracking ship INS Dhruv commissioned
- India’s first nuclear-missile tracking ship, named INS Dhruv, has been commissioned from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, on September 10, 2021.
- The 10,00 tonnes satellite and ballistic missile tracking ship has been built by the Hindustan Shipyard Limited in collaboration with the DRDO and National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO).
- INS Dhruv is capable of tracking nuclear missiles at a long-range, which makes it useful to provide early warning of attacks by ballistic missiles launched from Pakistan and China.
- India now joins an elite list of countries consisting of France, the US, the UK, Russia, and China, who possess and operate such ships.

Bhupendra Patel named as the new CM of Gujarat
- Bhupendra Patel has been choosen as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat at the BJP legislature meeting on September 12, 2021.
- He is a BJP MLA from the Ghatlodiya assembly seat.
- This comes after the resignation of Vijay Rupani from the post of CM of Gujarat.

Daniel Ricciardo wins F1 Italian Grand Prix 2021
- Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren, Australian-Italian) has won the Formula One Italian Grand Prix 2021 title held on September 12, 2021. This is first victory for McLaren in 9 years.
- Lando Norris came second while Valtteri Bottas came third in the F1 race.
- Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen crash out of Italian Grand Prix 2021 due to collision.
Emma Raducanu of Great Britain wins US Open 2021 Women’s Singles Tennis Title
- In Tennis, Great Britain’s tennis player Emma Raducanu defeated Canada’s Leylah Annie Fernandez to win 2021 US Open women’s singles final title, 6-4, 6-3, held at at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York on September 12, 2021.
- This is the maiden Grand Slam title for world number 150 Raducanu.
- With this win, the 18-year-old Raducanu has become the first-ever qualifier to capture the Grand slam and the first British woman since 1977 to win the crown.
